Ancient settlement of Amul-Chardjui is located on the outskirts of the modern regional center of Turkmenabat and represents the ruins of an ancient fortress of Amul Shah, the ruling in X-XI century. Despite the fact that to have survived only the ruins of a fortress, this place has become one of the most valuable historical landmarks of the country.
The first settlement was most reliable fortress surrounded by a specially dug a deep moat and had four walls that served as protection from attacks of enemies and the best protected warriors. On the fortress there were not only houses of artisans, merchants, retainers of the ruler, but the Palace, as well as warehouses, barracks, prison and other business premises.
